icon-box-3Psychotherapy

As a registered psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, I have expertise in a number of different therapies. My specialty is Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy (SIP), a therapy that can help you bring more balance, authenticity and joy into your life by exploring spirituality and questions of meaning and purpose. Other therapies I provide are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP), Rogerian Person Centred Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Self in Relationship Psychotherapy (derived from Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy). Issues I work with include depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, coping with loss, lack of meaning, hopelessness, and women’s issues.

Grief Counseling

Grief is the tangled ball of emotions that can hit you when you experience a loss. In itself, grief is not an illness but rather a normal reaction to loss. There are many types of loss, including death, loss of a relationship, loss of health, change or loss of job, moving, loss of financial security. While Kübler-Ross proposed five stages of grief, I prefer to use seven: shock and disbelief, denial, guilt and pain, bargaining, anger, depression, and acceptance. Death and loss are a part of life, and grief counseling can help you explore your feelings and provide tools for dealing with them.

Workshops

My workshop, “Essential Spirituality: 7 Practices,” is based on the teachings and exercises outlined in Essential Spirituality by Dr. Roger Walsh. If you aren’t sure what spirituality is or want to learn more about ancient spiritual practices and how to get started with them, this workshop can help you. The 3-hour workshop is based on research conducted by Dr. Diana Koszycki, myself, and others on using a multi-faith spiritually-based intervention for the treatment of anxiety. Our research is published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology.

Stay tuned for the next workshop announcement!

Clinical Supervision

As defined by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, clinical supervision is “a contractual relationship in which a clinical supervisor engages with a supervisee to discuss the direction of therapy and the therapeutic relationship; promote the professional growth of the supervisee; enhance the supervisee’s safe and effective use of self in the therapeutic relationship; and safeguard the well-being of the client.” My style of supervision is a self and relational approach, and I have over eight years of experience in supervising Saint Paul University students in the School of Counselling, Psychotherapy and Spirituality.

Through SIP and the process of looking back, staying present, and moving forward, my goal is for you to feel better, live more fully, and have an enduring sense that your life is worth living.
